Precipitated silica is an amorphous form of silica; it is a white, powdery material. Precipitated silica is produced by precipitation from a solution containing silicate salts. The three main classes of amorphous silica are pyrogenic silica, precipitated silica and silica gel.

Precipitated silica

Precipitated silica is a white, powdered type of silica. Precipitated silica is created by precipitating silicate salts from a solution. Quartz sand, a crystalline form of silicon dioxide, is the source of precipitated silica, a synthetic form of amorphous silicon dioxide. There are numerous ways to control the precipitated silica’s physical characteristics during production, resulting in highperformance products for various end uses.

Precipitated silica uses

1. Precipitated silica is used as an adhesive. It can strengthen bonds and strengthen bonds. When a liquid adhesive comes into contact with a solid surface, the scattered silica particles are dispersed— adhesive based on natural and synthetic rubber.

2. It’s a component of PVC sheets. Precipitated Silica improves pigment dispersion, works as a separating agent and an absorbent to enhance flow, and gives the compound a dry feel.

3.For textile cots and aprons, precipitated silica is utilised as reinforcing silica.

Application & Usage

1. Filler, softener and performance improvement in rubber and plastics Cleaning, thickening and polishing agent in toothpastes for oral health care Food processing and pharmaceuticals additive as anti-caking, thickening agent, absorbent to make liquids int.

2. precipitated silica is useful to enhance bond strength and as a reinforcing and thickening agent. The dispersed silica particles within a liquid adhesive harden fast when it is in contact with a solid surface. In both natural and synthetic rubber-based adhesive.

3. Silica provides thixotropy, reinforcement and promotes adhesion as well as serves as extenders, therefore it raises quality and lowers cost.

4. It prevents resin separation and the settling of pigments and heavy fillers.

5. Precipitated silica is used in shoe soles for its resistance to wear and to tearing ,its non-scuffing characteristics and to obtain compounds with light color or even transparent materials.

6. Precipitated Silica is used to prevent cracking and cut the growth of Conveyor Belts and power transmission belts.

7. Precipitated Silica is used to improve pigment dispersion and acts as a parting agent and as an absorbent to improve the flow and imparts a dry feel to the compound.

8. Precipitated Silica is used in Railway Pads.

9. Precipitated Silica is used in Rubber Rollers and Rice Rollers
